v4 Update September 2012


Spellchecked Wink and Kiss part 1

Updated the file to v4 today. I used nwn spellchecker on part one, so it will be much easier to read now. It's humbling going back and seeing just how bad a speller I really am. Anyway I plan to get back into using the toolset in the coming weeks. I should be able to put 4 or 5 hours a week into part 2. I apologize for not being able to reply to comments and e-mails promptly lately. I have gotten a couple messages saying opening the module crashes the game for some people. I don't really know how to address that, other than make sure you have the required hakpacks linked on the vault page.

Also I'd like to hear from the fans of part one. Consider this an informal poll. I already know Melanie plays a role in part 2, but besides her, who was your favorite character in part 1? Who would you most like to see revisited in part 2? Please leave comments.

    If a NWN module crashes, sometimes, it is due to there being several different Haks in the Hak file, Haks that don't relate to the module in question. This didn't use to be a problem but it has creeped up over the last few years.

    Tell people to clean out their Hak file and only use the ones for the module they are playing and see if that helps.

    Liked the barbarian chick when playing from male perspective. When playing female perspective, the more debauchery the better ;)

    I'm so glad to hear that you're starting up again. Loved W&K, though I've mostly played the female story. But the male story were also a lot of fun :)
    I'd love to see more of Captain Dobbins, if possible, since I loved him and his character.He made me laugh so much. I guess I'm just drawn to characters that act like jerks :p

      Well, as DM of this "campaign" I had planned to perma dead Captain Dobbins, but don't worry; I have plans to make a few jerky characters for Willie to meet in part 2.

      Captain Dobbins ain't comin back? damn really thought he abandonned poor willie on the ship and was looking forward to them meeting again and how she could react to this (to know that he's alive and that he abandonned her).
      Anyway, hooray for the nasty, ugly jerks (the more, the merrier)^^

    It's good to see the mod is being updated... hopefully the next chapter is also back on track, I am definitely anxious to know what will happen with the characters.

    Would be great to see some new screenshots of your WIP of part II. Perhaps people could offer some suggestions or ask some questions should you be interested in hearing them

    Have an issue where the first area won't unload. The modual will unpack and all the .hak and .tlk files are in order, but for whatever reason the bar gets stuck about 3/4 of the way loading. Any idea why?

    Nevermind fixed it. The ERF file didn't import from CEP for whatever reason. I moved it in manually and everything started working.

    I've only played the female part of the Wink v4, but I really loved it. Love the way she is trying to resist, yet unable to stop her body from betraying her. I also like the way the captain, bullies her but without resorting to rape or violence :-) Good Work

      Peace and love... I just want to clarify one thing I don't want people to think this blog page was created for day to day updates or anything, though I'll try to leave a post and answer any questions when I see them. This page was created initially because the NWN Vault did not accept my module on the first try, and labeled it "inappropriate material". This page was made to host The Wink and Kiss my self independently. Well turns out I convinced the NWN Vault to host it after all. So this page still exists. I've been getting a lot of comments about part 2 lately and let me just explain honestly what's going on with it. I used to be somewhat shut in, and had a lot of free time to make a mod like Wink and Kiss one. Things are different now. I have a wife and family as well as a job, so it gets harder and harder to work on these things. So it will only be fair to say I work at a snails pace on this, however I did make a little headway last week and started working on a side quest chain involving vampires! SO long and short of it is, I still work on the thing, but only seldom. It may take me another few years to finish all that I want to do. I don't like the idea of releasing something half assed or unfinished because of feeling rushed. Plus I'm constantly learning new things about the toolset, learning to use the gestalt cut scene system, as well as added a couple other hakpacks with usable beds, and added animations to the module. Plus I'm by no stretch a professional at this. That's why I've always been careful not to promise too much or to give a release date because, I simply don't know how long it will take me. It might be a couple years afaik. If you want to consider that "Vaporware" That is fine. As always I will offer anyone who wants to see it my unfinished part 2 module via e-mail. Just send a message to me at wkbuilder at gmail dot com and I will send you the unfinished mod as well as links to the required haks.

      Thanks for the update! Vampires, eh? Am hoping some forced seduction by one or more vampires will be done to the PC in this upcoming module. :)

      Anyway, I know that thing called "real life" can take away from one's time to create. So I fully understand. Take as much time as you need. I am just glad you are still going to work on this! Definitely look forward to playing it when you do deem it fit for release.

    Hey,

    I want to encourage the author to publish the module on the new vault, too, since the old one has become too unreliable. A lot of content from the old vault has been backed up and some people will develop a system to publish it on the new one, but they say it's best if the authors create their module pages personally so they can control everything. (I don't know what happens to old download counts, maybe someone will be able to fill them in later.)

    Anyway, I volunteered to update and tidy up those old romance and adult module lists sometime in the future. For now, they have been copied to the new vault. The lists need to be updated regardless of the old vault working or not.

    I want to add The Wink and Kiss to the lists when I get around to updating them. I played the module a while ago and I'm not sure what to write, since it has to be concise and relevant to people looking for something to play, and there are too many "romanceable" NPCs here. :)


    Example of a list entry (ADWR2):
    ----
    Rated Adult. Only female characters are playable.
    This module contains both romance and adult content options.

    Notable characters:
    Anden (male ranger, good) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
    Pia (female bard, good) - only romanceable if you rescued Pia and started romance with her in Chp. 1 - a romantic and sexual relationship.
    Rizzen (male drow fighter/rogue, evil) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
    Vico (male fighter/rogue/blackguard, evil) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
    ----

    A short description of the romance/encounters' style and atmosphere can also be added.

    See how they didn't mention all the bandits, orcs and dogs in ADWR? So I'm a little confused as to how long we should make these list entries. :D (I think it's too bad that the orcs and dogs aren't listed btw, this description hardly covers what ADWR is... in case someone still doesn't know about it, and I know that's possible.)

    A working link to the module will be needed. Best to upload it to the new vault yourself, says Mr. Rolo. But most of the links currently in the lists point to the old vault... Something will have to be done about that later.

      Thanks for the heads up Lamb! I did notice the old vault was down for a few days, but seems to be back up and working at the moment. I have registered with the new vault and will look into how to add my module to the new sight.

      As for what to write in the notable characters I would consider Captain Dobbins, and Masia the two main "Romancable" characters. Everyone else is just a means to an end. I would say scenes are descriptive with animations, or sometimes just animated.
